Did Taylor Swift join the list of celebrities who’ve insured their body parts for big bucks?
Despite media reports about Taylor taking out $40 million worth of coverage on her legs, it turns out that TSwift has no such policy in place. The star even took to her Instagram account to refute—and poke fun—at the reports.
Forty million dollars might seem like a lot—but it pales in comparison to the reportedly $1 billion policy Mariah Carey took out on her legs when she was under contract with Gillette. Other celebrities who took out unusual insurance policies include Keith Richards (hands), America Ferrera (smile) and Bruce Springsteen (voice).
Most of us don’t need to take out an eight (or ten!) figure policy on anything we own. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have something valuable that could use some extra coverage. Many homeowners insurance policies have special limits on certain items like jewelry, silverware and collectible cards. If you have valuable items, it’s a good idea to talk with an insurance professional like an Erie Insurance agent about extra coverage.
