There’s lots of buzz about how new auto technologies are making cars and driving safer than ever.
That should reduce the number of traffic fatalities. Yet the National Safety Council recently reported that traffic deaths are 14 percent higher through the first six months of 2015 than they were during the same period in 2014. Traffic deaths are now at the highest they’ve been since 2007.
While this news is alarming, it’s helpful to remember that there are many things you can do to stay safe behind the wheel. They include resisting distracted driving; knowing how to drive in difficult weather conditions like black ice and rain; obeying posted speed limits; and refusing to drive under the influence.
