Four Ways Live on the Green is Truly Green

Live on the Green is a truly green event.

Live on the Green will feature a full music lineup when it returns to downtown Nashville’s Public Square Park on Aug. 14. But did you know that the popular music series is green for another reason besides its venue?

Many people don’t realize that Live on the Green is an environmentally friendly music series. From vendor’s to-go containers to the green-constructed roof on which acts perform, sustainability is factored into all aspects of the South’s largest free summer music festival.

Curious to know the other ways in which Live on the Green lives up to its name? Then check out this list.

    1. There’s a lot of recycling going on. In 2013, recycling efforts at Live on the Green resulted in the diversion of more than 6,458 pounds of recyclable material from landfills. That is the equivalent of 215,000 16 oz. aluminum cans or 380,000 16 oz. plastic cups.

    2. Energy-efficient light is everywhere. Extensive use of energy-efficient LEDs for stage and site lighting help Live on the Green emit 30 percent less lighting energy than an event of comparable size and scope.

    3. Bike use is promoted. In partnership with Walk/Bike Nashville, Live on the Green offers a complimentary bike valet service. Last year, more than 800 bikes were checked.

    4. Even the fans are green. Approximately 14,000 attendees arrived to Live on the Green via alternative transportation like bicycles. More than sixty percent of attendees say they regularly recycle.

ERIE is proud to sponsor this event and to offer Seriously Good VIP seat upgrades to it. Listen to Lightning 100 or follow Lightning 100 on Twitter to learn how you can score one of these coveted seats for free.
