Ever feel like your teen tunes you out when you try to teach them about safe driving? If so, you might encourage them to Join the Shift.
Shift is a safe teen driving program from Erie Insurance that uses fun, interactive activities to help teens learn about and spread the safe driving message. Shift includes an interactive website at Jointheshift.org and an annual contest in which high schools and students can earn points to win prizes.
Point-earning activities include creating safe driving videos, taking a safe driver pledge and sharing content on Facebook® and Twitter®. (Last year’s creations were impressive—check out one teen’s safe driving song to get an idea of what was submitted.) Students can also earn points by referring friends to sign up during the eight-week contest.
This year’s contest runs today until Nov. 17. Sixteen prizes totaling $20,000 will be awarded to the students and schools who amass the most points. New to this year’s contest is a $1,000 student prize for best video.
